YABATECH Emerges 2nd Overall Best In 22nd NIPOGA

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has once again demonstrated its excellence not only in academics but also in sports, securing second place overall at the recently concluded 22nd Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), themed “Ijakadi 2024.”

The institution’s athletes put on an outstanding display, clinching a total of 15 gold, 9 silver, and 20 bronze medals during the tournament.

The host institution, Federal Polytechnic Offa in Kwara State, emerged as the overall winner of the competition.

This year’s NIPOGA featured fierce contests across various sports including athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, swimming, and others.

Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul, Rector of YABATECH, commended the team for their determination, discipline, and sportsmanship. He expressed immense pride in their performance and reiterated the college’s commitment to developing sports as a key part of its mission to groom well-rounded graduates—intellectually sound and physically fit to represent Nigeria on global platforms.

The institution’s success is a testament to the depth of talent and dedication within its ranks and highlights YABATECH’s focus on holistic student development.

NIPOGA, one of Nigeria’s largest sporting events, aims to foster unity, camaraderie, and healthy competition among students of polytechnics nationwide. Dr. Abdul emphasized the importance of the games in building national cohesion, discovering talent, and encouraging international-level sports participation among Nigerian youths.
