France captain Kylian Mbappe has expressed that he would be delighted if Zinedine Zidane were appointed as the next manager of the national team.
Current France head coach Didier Deschamps has already confirmed that he will step down after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Zidane, the former Real Madrid boss, has been linked with the role.
In an interview with TF1, Mbappe addressed the speculation, saying, “It’s not my decision to make. I try not to speak about it too much because it’s not my place. There is already a manager in charge, and we must respect those currently in position.”
He continued, “My admiration for Zidane is well known, but Deschamps is here, and that must be respected. If Zidane were to take over, I would be extremely happy, but again, it’s not my decision.”
Meanwhile, Mbappe has returned to the France squad after being included by Deschamps for Les Bleus’ UEFA Nations League quarter-final clash against Croatia.
