Veteran journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the only Nigerian politician capable of taking on President Bola Tinubu.
According to Momodu, other politicians, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, lack the capacity to challenge Tinubu.
He also predicted that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, would eventually be sidelined by President Tinubu once he had served his purpose.
Momodu’s Claims
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Momodu said:
“Atiku is the only one today who is not afraid of Tinubu. Every other person, including Peter Obi—who Atiku even used in 2019—cannot face him.
Wike? I have no doubts that they [the presidency] will use him and dump him.”
Why He Doesn’t Support Tinubu
Addressing his decision not to support President Tinubu, despite their past relationship, Momodu explained:
“Yes, he helped me in the past, but I have also done a lot for him. He is kindhearted and generous, but when it comes to politics, I cannot stand a system where one person’s word is final, and no one dares to challenge it. Even Baba Awolowo had people who argued with him.”
