Kwara Governor Swears in New Commissioners, Reshuffles Cabinet

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as commissioners while implementing a cabinet reshuffle within the State Executive Council (SEC).

The governor urged the new appointees to work as a team and align with his administration’s commitment to sustaining progress across various sectors.

New Portfolios Assigned:

  • Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe – Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development
  • Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam – Ministry of Social Development

In the reshuffle, former Education and Human Capital Development Commissioner, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, was reassigned to the Ministry of Tertiary Education, while Dr. Mary Arinde transitioned from Tertiary Education to head the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

The governor also made the following adjustments:

  • Aliyu Kora Sabi – Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Transportation
  • Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo – Moved from Agriculture and Rural Development to the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development
  • Dr. Afeez Abolore – Reassigned from Solid Minerals Development to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh – Now in charge of the Ministry of Social Development

Governor AbdulRazaq described the appointments as a “deserving elevation” from their previous roles as Senior Special Assistants and emphasized the importance of teamwork and innovation in governance.

“Our administration has made measurable progress in key areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, social inclusion, and economic development,” he said. “I urge you to be creative, stay connected with the people, and apply prudence in decision-making.”

The governor congratulated the new commissioners and wished them success in their roles.
