End of an era – Ohanaeze chieftain reacts to Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ayo Adebanjo, Edwin Clark’s death

The former National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbonnia, has reacted to the passing of Chief Edwin Clark, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, describing their deaths as the end of an era in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Comparing the trio to The Three Musketeers, Ogbonnia emphasized their shared vision of restructuring Nigeria, advocating for fiscal federalism, the rule of law, social justice, prudent leadership, and inter-ethnic harmony. He noted that their commitment to equity and good governance made them pivotal figures in shaping Nigeria’s political discourse.

The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), which included Clark, Adebanjo, and Iwuanyanwu, consistently pushed for a restructured and prosperous Nigeria, lamenting widespread corruption, economic hardship, and governance failures.

Reflecting on their loss, Ogbonnia expressed deep sorrow, stating:
“With their departure, Nigeria has lost voices of reason. Their absence creates a void in national discourse, and I fear the country may struggle to produce leaders of their caliber in the coming years.”

He recalled their unyielding advocacy for national unity and justice, underscoring that their legacy should inspire future generations to continue the fight for a better Nigeria.
