Seven injured as firefighters battle inferno after explosion near US airport

Over seven people sustained injuries following a vehicle explosion that sparked a massive fire near El Paso International Airport in Texas on Tuesday.

According to Fox News, the El Paso Fire Department confirmed that crews were responding to a condition 4 fire at the Sun Metro Transit Operations Center.

El Paso Strategic Communications Director, Laura Cruz Acosta, stated that over 100 firefighters and 40 fire units were deployed to tackle the blaze.

Despite the incident, Acosta confirmed that operations at El Paso International Airport remained unaffected.

The fire department reported no fatalities, though seven individuals were evaluated, with four transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Acosta also noted that details regarding the fire and its cause remain limited.

“Our primary focus is on containing the fire and ensuring the safety of our staff,” the statement read. “We deeply appreciate the swift response of our first responders in handling the situation.”
