Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticized former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai over allegations that Governor Uba Sani received N150 billion from President Bola Tinubu without disclosing it to the public.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Shehu Sani argued that no one in Kaduna State could confidently account for how the $350 million World Bank loan allocated to the state was spent.
He pointed out that during El-Rufai’s tenure, he received substantial funds from former President Muhammadu Buhari without providing transparency. These included:
- Millions of dollars in Paris Club refunds
- Billions in excess crude funds
- Billions in ecological funds
- Special grants disbursed through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
- Billions in stamp duty revenue
- Loans from commercial banks that mortgaged the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)
Despite these inflows, Shehu Sani claimed that El-Rufai never disclosed the financial details to Kaduna residents.
He further remarked that if Governor Uba Sani had indeed refused to disclose the alleged N150 billion, he likely learned it from his predecessor.
“The former governor is coming to equity with dirty hands,” Shehu Sani wrote, suggesting that El-Rufai himself lacked financial transparency during his time in office.
He also mocked El-Rufai’s claims of betrayal, stating, “The legend of betrayal has simply been outsmarted by the grand guru.”
Drawing a sharp analogy, he concluded, “The man with body odor is accusing another of having mouth odor.”
