The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigerian singer Tems on her triumph at the 67th Grammy Awards.
Tems’ song Love Me Jeje won the Best African Music Performance category, beating out Tomorrow (Yemi Alade), MMS (Asake & Wizkid), Sensational (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and Higher (Burna Boy) on Sunday.
In a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, Obi also acknowledged and celebrated the achievements of other Nigerian artists who were nominated despite not winning.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems (@temsbaby), on securing her second Grammy Award in the Best African Music Performance category.
“I also celebrate Nigeria’s entertainment industry and all other Nigerian artists who received nominations in various categories,” his statement read in part.
Obi reaffirmed his commitment to building a nation that nurtures youth talent, helping them develop and maximize their potential for national growth and productivity.
