Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing infrastructure upgrades across the state, stating he will not be deterred by political blackmail.
Speaking during the commissioning of state projects on Wednesday, as part of his midterm anniversary, Governor Adeleke accused opposition parties of attempting to obstruct his administration’s developmental efforts and of sowing ethnic division among the populace.
“Our approach to governance prioritizes development across all towns and cities, without ethnic or religious bias,” Adeleke stated. “Good governance should be a unifying tool, not a divisive one. We focus on both hard and soft infrastructure to enhance the lives of our citizens.”
The governor criticized opposition parties for politicizing development, emphasizing that his administration remains dedicated to completing abandoned projects and delivering sustainable progress. “We will not succumb to the blackmail of those who failed our people for decades. Our five-point agenda is the driving force behind our achievements over the past two years,” he added.
While addressing the controversy surrounding the relocation of the MKO Abiola International Airport project from Ido-Osun to Ede, Adeleke defended the decision, asserting that resources are being deployed judiciously to benefit the entire state.
Despite protests from the Ido-Osun community and criticism from opposition parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Adeleke emphasized that his administration sees no limits to Osun’s potential. “We are building roads, airports, schools, and hospitals to drive economic and social progress. Osun’s greatness knows no bounds,” he stated.
The Federal Ministry of Aviation recently intervened to halt the groundbreaking ceremony for the relocated airport project in Aisu, Ede South, further intensifying debates around the project.
