The Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has received 10 victims of human trafficking rescued by the Nigeria Police Force in Kano.
The Zonal Commander, Mr. Abdullahi Babale, announced this on Thursday while taking custody of the victims from the Kano State Police Command.
The rescue operation, led by CSP Bala Shuaibu, took place on December 7 at approximately 2:40 PM in a house located in Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano. The victims, aged between 22 and 42, include six females and four males.
According to Babale, the individuals were en route to Libya for labor exploitation and hail from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states.
He expressed gratitude to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salman Dogo-Garba, for his unwavering support and collaboration in rescuing the victims.
Babale assured that the rescued individuals would undergo counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families. He also advised parents to safeguard their children from falling victim to trafficking under the guise of seeking better opportunities.
Additionally, he encouraged the public to report any suspicious human trafficking activities within their communities.
