The Yobe State government has completed the verification of 20,763 civil servants out of the 30,862 workers in the state.
Hamidu M. Alhaji, the State’s Head of Service, shared this update with journalists during a monitoring visit to the ongoing data collection process in Damaturu.
He mentioned that 10,099 workers remain unverified due to missing files that have not been submitted by various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Head of Service emphasized the state’s commitment to building an accurate personnel database, highlighting the government’s resolve to eliminate ghost workers from its payroll. While expressing concern about the delay in file submissions from some MDAs, he assured that the results of the verification exercise would inform the state’s future decisions.
Muhammad Abatcha Geidam, the State Commissioner of Finance, warned that salaries for unverified civil servants would be withheld in the future.
