Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has urged the federal government to keep entertainers, particularly crossdressers, out of political discussions.
He expressed this sentiment while discussing the situation of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, during a recent episode of the Honest Bunch Podcast.
Obi suggested that Bobrisky and many others in the same field began cross-dressing primarily for economic reasons.
The former governor of Anambra State pointed out that if the government implemented policies that favor women, it could lead to an increase in the number of men adopting cross-dressing.
“When I first heard about Bobrisky, I said, ‘These entertainers shouldn’t be involved in politics.’
“It’s all about entertainment. If the government were to announce that fuel costs N800 per litre but is only N400 for women, the number of men donning women’s clothing would astonish you.
“So, let’s focus on addressing our real issues,” Obi stated.
