Ondo election: Gov Aiyedatiwa speaks on drawing N1.2 billion as security vote

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has labeled the claims that he receives N1.2 billion in security votes as “lies from the pit of hell.”

He made this statement in Akure, the state capital, during the Ondo State governorship election debate organized by Channels Television and its partners. This debate served as a platform for candidates to outline their developmental plans for the state.

Both candidates, former deputy governors under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, are contesting under the two major political parties: the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aiyedatiwa, who is campaigning for the November 16 election, accused PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi of spreading falsehoods regarding security allocations.

“You can’t simply engage in politics by claiming that someone is receiving N1.2 billion as a security vote; that’s a blatant lie,” he asserted, without specifying the actual amount he receives for security.

He further clarified that all government expenditures are accounted for within a budget, insisting that his administration will adhere to these budgetary guidelines.

He urged the PDP candidate to verify his facts before disseminating misleading information to the public.
