The First Lady of Ebonyi, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, has contributed N2 million to assist the ten victims of the gas explosion at Good Shepherd Catering School in Oruokeonuoha, Ebonyi LGA.
Mrs. Nwifuru made the donation through her foundation, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO), during her visit to the victims at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki.
During her visit, she explained that the donation would help cover the victims’ medical expenses and also committed to funding the surgical operation for young Miss Anita Ahamefula, who requires surgery but lacks the means to pay for it.
Mrs. Nwifuru expressed her empathy for the victims and prayed for their swift recovery, offering strength to the young girls, who are suffering from severe burns and are in critical condition. The affected girls, aged 13 to 19, were admitted for intensive care following the explosion that occurred on Thursday.
