‘Final warning’: Defence minister tackles Amaechi for asking Nigerians to protest hardship

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has strongly criticized recent remarks made by Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of provoking violence and unrest among Nigerians.

Amaechi had recently suggested that Nigerians should be protesting against the economic difficulties in the country.

In a statement released by the Director of Information in the Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, and obtained by DAILY POST on Saturday, Matawalle issued a firm warning to the former Minister of Transport, urging him to refrain from making divisive comments that could jeopardize national peace and stability.

Matawalle expressed grave concern about the dangers such statements pose to the nation.

“It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public official like Amaechi to incite Nigerians against their own government,” Matawalle said.

He further added, “At a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making significant strides in addressing the country’s challenges through various reforms, it is shameful and absurd for anyone to exploit the hardships faced by citizens for selfish political reasons.”

The minister reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the security and peace of all Nigerians, warning that any efforts to destabilize the country through incitement would not be tolerated.

“We will not allow anyone to incite violence or take advantage of the current situation for personal gain. Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his associates,” Matawalle declared.

“It is expected that Amaechi would work with the Government to move the nation forward, yet he chooses to make narrow-minded assertions,” the minister concluded.
