Mr. George Sibo, a member of one of the prominent political parties in Bayelsa State, was reportedly killed at the collation center in Twon-Brass, located in the Brass local government area of Bayelsa state, according to reports from Daily Trust.
Popularly known as “Kobo-Kobo,” Sibo served as an aide to the Chairman of Brass Local Government, Hanson Alabo-Karika. The incident occurred during an attack by thugs who invaded the collation center.
The deceased, a native of Twon-Brass, was married and had children. Eyewitnesses recounted that he was murdered at the Collation Centre while results for certain wards in the constituency were being submitted.
Dr. Daniel Charles, the representative for Brass Constituency l, expressed sorrow over the “gruesome murder of a vibrant and hardworking young man by desperate power seekers.” He called on security agents to promptly apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act.
CSP Asinim Butswat, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa state police, stated that he was awaiting details from the Police Area Commander of Brass. It is noteworthy that earlier, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had raised concerns about its officials being held hostage in Brass.
