The Supreme Court has scheduled Thursday, October 26, as the date for delivering the conclusive rulings on the two remaining legal challenges regarding the legitimacy of President Bola Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the recent presidential election. These challenges were brought forth by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Gregory Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP). Dr. Awemeri Festus Akande, the Director of Press and Information for the Supreme Court, has officially confirmed this development as of Wednesday.
Dr. Akande has also assured that extensive security measures have been implemented to prevent any security breaches, both within and outside the court premises.
Earlier in the week, a seven-member panel of Justices led by Justice John Inyang Okoro heard the final arguments presented by lawyers representing the involved parties in the petitions. Subsequently, the Justices reserved their judgments.
