Mikel Obi named AFCON 2023 draw assistant

John Mikel Obi, the former Super Eagles Captain, has been selected as one of the assistants for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final draw. His fellow assistants include Didier Drogba, his former Chelsea teammate, Sadio Mane, the Senegal Striker, and Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan defender. The event will be hosted by the global music icon, Akon.

Mikel previously secured victory in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and holds the distinction of being a three-time AFCON bronze medalist with the Super Eagles. The final draw ceremony will take place at the newly constructed Parc des Expositions in Abidjan, with delegations, coaches from the 24 participating nations, CAF legends, international media, CAF commercial partners, showbiz celebrities, and African leaders in attendance. This event is highly anticipated and marks the commencement of the final preparations for what is expected to be the best AFCON ever.
