Five dead in Florida after freight train slams into SU

A freight train crashed into an SUV at a railroad crossing in Plant City, Florida, killing five people and injuring two others.

The sheriff said that the SUV driver approached the crossing, which is controlled only by signage, and drove on without looking both ways. The conductor of the train tried to stop the train by blowing the horn and flashing the lights, but it was too late.

The SUV catapulted and flipped several times before landing a distance from the crossing. Five of the seven passengers were ejected from the car and died. The driver and front passenger were extracted from the car with the jaws of life and are in critical condition in the hospital.

The sheriff believes that the victims were a family on their way to a quinceanera part
