Tacha Akide, a former Big Brother Naija contestant, has praised the Lagos State Police for dispersing a crowd of Mohbad’s supporters who gathered at the Lekki tollgate on Thursday night.
The police had earlier agreed with the organizers of the candlelight procession that it would end at 8 pm. However, some of Mohbad’s supporters remained at the tollgate after that time, blocking traffic and disrupting public order.
In a post on her Instagram page, Tacha said that the police were right to disperse the crowd. She wrote, “Kudos to the Nigerian police. I have seen videos of police begging people to dispatch themselves. We did not come out to continue #EndSARS. Everybody came out for Mohbad’s candlelight procession. We can all agree that the organizers said you can all go home. But if you want to protest, get a date approved by the government, and you can go out to protest. Stop changing the narrative.”
Tacha’s comments have been met with mixed reactions from the public. Some people have praised her for supporting the police, while others have criticized her for condoning police brutality.
In short, Tacha Akide has defended the Lagos State Police for dispersing a crowd of Mohbad’s supporters who gathered at the Lekki tollgate on Thursday night, even after the agreed-upon time for the candlelight procession had ended.
