2025 UTME: JAMB arrests 27 impersonators, delists four CBT centres

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reported the arrest of 27 individuals for impersonation during the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The suspects have been transferred to the Nigeria Police for swift prosecution.

Alongside these arrests, JAMB announced that it has disqualified four Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for failing to meet its strict technical and ethical standards.

The delisted centres are:

  • Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State.
  • Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State.
  • Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.
  • Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.

In a statement released Friday night, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin praised the 883 centres that maintained excellent standards but stressed that any centre, irrespective of ownership, that fails to comply with required technical and ethical guidelines would face blacklisting.

Candidates previously assigned to the affected centres have been instructed to promptly reprint their examination slips to receive updated information regarding their new exam venues and schedules.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but candidates must reprint their slips, as excuses will not be accepted,” the board warned.

JAMB also shared that, as of Friday, April 25, 2025, over 900,000 candidates had successfully taken the UTME out of the 2,083,600 registered nationwide.

Additionally, the board addressed an incident at Caleb University’s CBT centre where candidates wearing hijabs were initially barred from entry. JAMB called the restriction “unauthorised” and confirmed that the situation was quickly resolved.

According to the board, the incident resulted from the actions of an overzealous security officer.

“We sincerely apologise to the affected candidates and commend the swift action by the centre’s and university’s management to ensure no candidate was unfairly treated,” the statement said.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to upholding a fair, transparent, and inclusive examination process across all centres.
