A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has warned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, to desist from meddling into the politics of Bayelsa State.
Chief Eze told Wike that Bayelsans don’t play politics of betrayal, gangsterism and bitterness, and therefore advised him to be wary of the dangerous path he wants to toe in a bid to destabilize and distract the administration of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State.
In a statement released in Port-Harcourt on Friday, Eze, a former member of the APC Legacy Media Team, hailed and congratulated Governor Diri for being a full fledged man by nipping in the bud, the evil and anti democratic plot by Wike to import political violence, thuggery, politics of rancour and acrimony into Bayelsa State.
While Nigerians and the international community are condemning President Bola Tinubu for declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State, and subsequently suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, as well as the State Assembly, Wike is busy plotting to replicate same scenario in Bayelsa State.
As a self centered political bigot and despot, Wike has never for once, been bordered about the deteriorating public perception of President Tinubu, in the face of the constitutional aberration and assault on the country’s democracy, which he committed in Rivers State.
So, plotting to import ground-swelling violence to Bayelsa, envisaging a declaration of another infamous state of emergency, is a ruse, that can never happen in the State.
Governor Diri is a complete man, irrepressible, proactive, visionary and a man full of wisdom, who cannot stand aloof and watch Wike perpetrate dastardly acts in Bayelsa State.
“I urge Wike to bury the thought of fueling crisis in the Bayelsa PDP, with the hope of allowing the attendant consequences to snowball into a state-wide political violence.
“I caution Wike to desist from his infantile thinking and hallucination, and wake up to the realization that no amount of devious plots would make President Tinubu, to declare a state of emergency in Bayelsa State.
“As Nigeria’s shadow President, we expect Wike to advise Tinubu to rescind the suspension of a democratically elected Governor and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, rather than indulging in a wild goose chase.
“With the ceaseless and senseless killings in the Plateau, Edo, Zamafara and other States, Wike ought to have advised Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Nigeria to justify his illegal declaration of emergency in Rivers State, Chief Eze warned.
Eze commended Governor Diri for his swiftness to hold separate meetings with the Bayelsa Elders Council and the State Security Council, where he warned that the planned April 12, pro-Wike rally could spark an avoidable crisis in the state.
President Tinubu should not be arm twisted to believe that Diri’s opposition to hosting of the mega rally in support of him and Wike as well as the inauguration of a political group, ‘The New Associates,’ in Bayelsa, is an affront on Mr President’s political interest, because that has been the tactics of Wike, just to curry favour from the presidency.
As the chief security officer of the State, Diri’s concerns over a potential plot to destabilise Bayelsa cannot be swept under the carpet.
“I agree in totality with Governor Diri that holding such an ill-motivated event when political tensions are high in Rivers State could fuel unrest in Bayelsa State, Eze stated.
