Nigeria’s Super Eagles have moved up one place in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, released on Thursday.
In the first ranking of 2025, the three-time African champions improved from 44th to 43rd globally.
However, Eric Chelle’s team slipped one spot in Africa, dropping out of the continent’s top five.
Africa’s Top-Ranked Teams
The highest-ranked African teams remain:
- Morocco (Atlas Lions)
- Egypt (Pharaohs)
- Algeria (Desert Foxes)
- Côte d’Ivoire (Elephants)
Super Eagles’ Recent Performances
The Super Eagles were active in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month, securing a 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.
They later played to a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Anambra State.
Global Rankings: Argentina Still on Top
World champions Argentina extended their lead at the top after securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The top five teams globally remain unchanged:
