Otukpo Residents Protest Against Rising Insecurity
Angry residents of Otukpo, Benue State, have taken to the streets to protest the escalating cases of killings and kidnappings in the area.
According to Reports, demonstrators, chanting “We no go gree!”, blocked major roads, demanding urgent intervention from the government and security agencies to tackle the growing insecurity.
A protester, Daniel Oche, described the attacks as frequent and relentless, revealing a disturbing pattern—electricity is always cut off before each attack.
“This keeps happening over and over again. We don’t feel safe in our own homes. And have you noticed? NEPA (JEDC) always takes the light before every attack. It’s like they don’t want us to see what’s coming,” he alleged.
The protest, which attracted a large crowd, follows a series of deadly assaults in the community. Residents say the violence has displaced many, while those who remain live in constant fear.
So far, security operatives have not been deployed to contain the situation.
