False narrative – Ramaphosa on white people being persecuted in South Africa after Musk’s claim

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed claims that white people are being persecuted in the country, calling it a “completely false narrative.”

In his weekly address to the nation on Monday, Ramaphosa refuted allegations that the South African government is enabling violence against the white Afrikaner population. These accusations have been amplified by U.S. President Donald Trump, tech billionaire Elon Musk, and certain white minority groups.

Musk, who has repeatedly accused South Africa’s Black-led government of being anti-white, recently claimed in a post on X that some South African political figures are “actively promoting white genocide.”

Without mentioning specific names, Ramaphosa directly countered these assertions, urging South Africans not to let external influences sow division.

“We should not allow events beyond our shores to divide us or turn us against each other. In particular, we must challenge the completely false narrative that our country is a place where people of a certain race or culture are being persecuted,” he stated.

His remarks served as a direct rebuttal to claims by Trump and Musk, which suggest that South Africa is marginalizing its white minority through farm attacks and land reform policies.
