Rivers: Reps end plenary, refuse to mention Tinubu’s emergency rule declaration

The House of Representatives concluded its plenary session on Wednesday without addressing the state of emergency declared in Rivers State.

According to DAILY POST, President Bola Tinubu announced the state of emergency on Tuesday night during a nationwide broadcast.

Many Nigerians had anticipated that the House would deliberate on the issue during Wednesday’s session. However, the lawmakers adjourned without mentioning it.

DAILY POST also reported that some members of the Green Chamber had engaged in a heated argument over the emergency declaration before the plenary began.

A video of the altercation, shared online by AIT News, showed Reps Blessing Amadi from Rivers State and Marie Ebikake in a shouting match just before the session commenced.

Despite the tense exchange, the House proceeded with its session and instead resolved to investigate the Federal Government’s conditional cash transfer programme.
