The Niger State Government has officially received a N100 million relief fund from the House of Representatives to assist victims of the devastating petrol tanker explosion at Diko Junction in Gurara LGA.
During a formal presentation at the Niger State liaison office in Abuja, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, handed over 10 cheques of N10 million each to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
Expressing his deep appreciation, Governor Bago described the donation as a testament to compassion and commitment toward the victims and their families. He assured that the funds would be properly utilized through the Niger State Disaster Management Fund to provide necessary support.
Speaker Abbas emphasized that the donation fulfills a pledge made during a condolence visit to the state government following the tragic fire, which claimed several lives, left many injured, and caused extensive property damage.
While acknowledging that the funds may not fully cover the needs of those affected, Abbas stressed that it represents the House of Representatives’ continued care and solidarity with people in distress. He reaffirmed the House’s dedication to working alongside the state government to provide ongoing assistance to the community during difficult times.
