EFCC arrests 4 Chinese, 27 other suspected illegal miners in Plateau

EFCC Arrests Four Chinese Nationals, 27 Others for Alleged Illegal Mining in Jos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended four Chinese nationals along with 27 Nigerians over alleged illegal mining activities in Jos, Plateau State.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Arrest Details

The operation took place on Saturday at the premises of Jiasheng Nigeria Limited, located at Dura Rayfield, Mangu Road, Jos.

According to Oyewale, the arrests were based on credible intelligence linking the company to illegal mining operations in the state.

Among those arrested were suppliers found in possession of unprocessed solid minerals suspected to have been illegally mined.

Seized Evidence

During the raid, EFCC operatives recovered:

  • A truck loaded with eight bags of processed Monazite, weighing 1,000kg,
  • Each bag valued at N4 million, totaling millions in recovered assets.

Oyewale emphasized that the suspects would face prosecution once investigations were concluded.
