US govt excludes UK, Nigeria, others from visa-free entry for 2025

The United States has released the list of countries eligible for its 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

Notably, the United Kingdom has been removed from the program but remains eligible under specific conditions.

The list does not include any African nations, such as Nigeria, Ghana, or South Africa.

While the VWP list remains largely unchanged, a significant update is the inclusion of Romania.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Visa Waiver Program allows citizens of eligible countries to visit the U.S. for tourism or business for up to 90 days without needing a visa.

The agency stated, “Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel and meet all specified requirements.

“If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor visa.”

The 2025 Visa Waiver Program also introduces policy updates regarding permit eligibility, adjustments to the list of participating countries, and new travel policies.
