Edo Governor Okpebholo Approves Promotion of 8,476 Teachers

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the promotion of 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the state.

The announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, who emphasized that the decision recognizes the teachers’ dedication and aims to enhance education quality in the state.

Briggs noted that the promotion, covering the period between 2022 and January 2024, is expected to boost morale within the teaching sector, which had suffered due to career stagnation.

“Governor Okpebholo’s proactive leadership has revitalized the basic education sector. Our collaborative efforts focus on implementing comprehensive reforms that prioritize educators and, ultimately, improve student outcomes,” she said.

She highlighted that the move reflects Okpebholo’s commitment to transforming education, ensuring that previous administrative delays do not hinder progress.

As his administration continues to introduce reforms, this decision serves as a clear signal of his determination to address systemic challenges and achieve tangible results within his first 100 days in office.

Briggs expressed confidence that enhancing teachers’ job satisfaction will lead to better learning outcomes and a more dynamic educational environment.

With further education reforms reportedly underway, Governor Okpebholo remains focused on strengthening the state’s education system, ensuring that teachers receive timely recognition and support.
