Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, visited Okpomaju community in Otukpo LGA to express his condolences and stand in solidarity with residents following a recent attack by herders.
Describing the attack as unprovoked and unacceptable, Senator Moro condemned the violence, stating that no individual or group has any justification for taking up arms against innocent, law-abiding citizens peacefully going about their daily lives.
Acknowledging the limits of his authority as he is neither the state governor nor the country’s president, Moro reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with like-minded individuals and relevant stakeholders to put an end to the senseless killings.
He commended the bravery of the local youths in defending lives and property despite the challenges, assuring them of his continuous support. He also extended his sympathies to the affected families, praying for the souls of the deceased and a swift recovery for the injured.
In Okpoga, Okpokwu LGA, Senator Moro condemned the destruction of classroom blocks at Central UBE Secondary School, Ugwu-Okpoga, and Junior Secondary School, Abossa, by arsonists. He urged residents to safeguard public infrastructure and pledged to rebuild the damaged school buildings.
During a visit to the Nigeria Police Divisional Headquarters in Okpoga, Moro praised the DPO and his officers for their efforts in maintaining law and order but expressed concern over the deteriorating state of the facility.
