Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has warned contractors working on the state’s mosque rehabilitation project against delivering substandard work, emphasizing that any attempt to compromise quality will have consequences.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor.
According to the statement, the governor issued the warning while addressing the progress of the Kauran Gwandu Mosques Project 2025, which involves renovating 100 mosques across Kebbi’s 21 local government areas.
Governor Idris stressed the importance of adhering strictly to project specifications.
“All contractors must ensure quality work in line with approved standards. Cutting corners will not be tolerated, and those found guilty will face consequences,” he cautioned.
To ensure compliance, a monitoring team led by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imran Usman, conducted an inspection tour across the state.
The team, which included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, began its evaluation in Argungu Emirate, covering Argungu, Augie, Arewa, and Dandi local government areas.
During the inspection, Engr. Usman reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to providing worshippers with a comfortable environment.
“This project is focused on restoring mosques that are in poor condition. Upgrades such as solar power installations, tiling, and other essential improvements will be carried out to enhance the worship experience,” he said.
He further warned that contractors must meet the required standards.
“Any contractor delivering substandard work will be held accountable,” Usman emphasized.
