Forcing people to insure their vehicles wrong – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticized the police for mandating Nigerians to insure their vehicles.

In a post on his official X handle on Monday, Sani argued that vehicle insurance should be a personal decision rather than an obligation.

“Forcing people to insure their vehicles is wrong. It should be a personal choice whether someone wants insurance or not. The insurance companies just want to drag people to their offices,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police Force has begun enforcing the third-party vehicle insurance policy across various states.

According to the police, the initiative aims to protect vehicle owners and road users, following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
