Veteran journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately creating crises within opposition parties, including the PDP, Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Momodu alleged that the APC’s actions are aimed at weakening the opposition and steering Nigeria toward a one-party state.
“Nigeria is clearly moving in the direction of a one-party state,” Momodu stated. “The ruling party, APC, is so fearful of opposition that crises are being orchestrated within the leading opposition parties, such as PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP. It’s obvious what’s happening.”
He also expressed uncertainty about the future of the situation, saying, “No one is in doubt about what is happening, but how this will end remains unclear. We are all watching.”
Momodu warned members of the APC to remember that power is transient, stressing that the current administration’s tenure is limited.
“The maximum they can hold onto power is eight years. After that, what’s next? It’s not about how long you stay, but how well you lead,” he cautioned.
Addressing those currently aligning themselves with the APC and its leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Momodu remarked, “A lot of people surrounding Asiwaju think they love him, but they don’t. It’s all about self-preservation. They lost out in one party, ran to him, and now use him as an umbrella when they should be holding the broom.”
