Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Jr set to buy football club

Real Madrid winger Vinícius Júnior is reportedly considering purchasing a football club in Portugal’s second division, according to ESPN.

The 24-year-old is exploring ways to diversify his business portfolio as he plans for life after his football career.

Vinícius already has several endorsement deals and a sponsorship contract with Nike, which runs until 2028.

Represented by Roc Nation, the Brazilian star maintains regular interactions with top athletes from other sports, particularly the NBA and NFL.

Portugal’s second division comprises 18 teams, including the reserve squads of Benfica and Porto. Among them, Portimonense, led by Brazilian Rodiney Sampaio, stands out as a potential option.

Vinícius would not be the first active player to own a football club. His Real Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappé became the majority shareholder of Caen, a French second-division team, in July last year. Similarly, N’Golo Kanté owns Royal Excelsior Virton, a club in Belgium’s third division.
