Stop maligning our reputation – APC knocks PDP on Senator’s alleged assassination attempt

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to refrain from tarnishing its reputation through unverified accusations and unfounded propaganda.

In a statement released on Friday by State Secretary Alhaji Yahaya Baba Pate, the APC dismissed claims by the PDP alleging the ruling party’s involvement in an assassination attempt on Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.

Describing the allegations as “baseless and absurd,” the APC called on the PDP to adopt a more constructive role as an opposition party instead of spreading false narratives.

“Kaduna State is on a trajectory of growth and stability, and no amount of fabricated narratives or staged incidents will derail this progress,” the statement read.

The APC accused the PDP of fostering a reputation for issuing “ill-conceived and patently false statements,” which it argued undermines meaningful public discourse.

The party pointed out that Senator Usman had not filed any formal complaint with the Kaduna Police Command about the alleged incident, nor had he cooperated with ongoing investigations.

“Despite repeated efforts by the police to contact him, Senator Usman has remained unresponsive. It is therefore puzzling how the PDP reached its baseless conclusion implicating the APC,” the statement continued.

The APC urged Senator Usman and the PDP to collaborate with law enforcement to resolve the matter, cautioning that failure to do so could raise suspicions that the assassination claim was fabricated to tarnish the APC’s image and destabilize the peace in Kaduna State.

The party further alleged that “certain conflict entrepreneurs” might be using the PDP to disrupt the progress achieved under the peace-building efforts of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

Reaffirming its commitment to Kaduna’s development, the APC emphasized its dedication to delivering good governance to the people of the state.

“As Governor Uba Sani has declared, 2025 is our Year of Fulfillment. We will not be distracted by baseless allegations or unnecessary provocations,” the statement added.

The APC also called on the opposition to uphold responsible political engagement, stressing that the peace and progress of Kaduna must remain a priority.
