Nigerian music star Burna Boy has explained the reason behind his decision to kick a fan during his performance at the 2025 Lagos Countdown concert.
The incident, which was captured on video and circulated on social media, shows Burna Boy abruptly leaving the stage after assaulting a fan who attempted to touch him. The video has since sparked widespread criticism, with many online users labeling him as the most arrogant Nigerian artist.
Responding to the controversy in an Instagram story on Wednesday evening, Burna Boy disclosed that he suffers from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and cautioned fans against jumping on stage during his performances.
He stated, “It was a free show. I was supposed to perform for 10 minutes but ended up doing almost an hour. Everyone knows my rule about jumping on stage and startling me while I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”
PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a mental health condition that occurs after witnessing or experiencing a distressing event and is characterized by difficulty recovering from the trauma.
