South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached on Saturday following his controversial attempt to impose martial law, a decision that stunned the nation and caused divisions within his party.
According to Al Jazeera, 204 members of South Korea’s parliament voted in favor of the impeachment, while 85 opposed it.
As part of the process, Yoon is prohibited from leaving the country while investigations into his actions are underway.
