Gunmen attack Zamfara community, abduct over 50 women, girls

Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have attacked Kakin Dawa village in Gidan Goga district of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

Reports indicate that the attackers abducted over 50 women and children during the raid.

According to a local resident, the gunmen invaded the village at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, armed with sophisticated weapons, and went house-to-house targeting residents.

“Everyone fled because the bandits have been targeting our village. Later, we realized that more than 50 women had been abducted,” the resident told DAILY POST.

The victims reportedly include both young girls and married women. The community member urged the federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy additional military and security personnel to the area to combat the terrorists.

Attempts to reach the state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
