Edo guber election petition: Tribunal set to hold inaugural sitting, pre-hearing session

The 2024 Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to commence its inaugural and pre-hearing sessions to address petitions challenging the victory of the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As of Monday morning, reports indicate that the tribunal has received seven petitions, including one from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

According to DAILY POST, the PDP candidate placed second in the election, while the Labour Party candidate, Olumide Akpata, secured third place. INEC had announced the results on Sunday, September 22, 2024, following the election held on September 21.
