Judge Juan Merchan on Friday approved President-elect Donald Trump’s request to file a motion seeking dismissal of the criminal charges against him in New York.
Additionally, the judge removed the previously scheduled sentencing date for Trump.
The case revolves around hush money charges brought against Trump by the New York State.
Merchan set a deadline of December 2 for Trump’s legal team to submit their motion for dismissal, with New York prosecutor Alvin Bragg required to respond by December 9.
The judge also confirmed a postponement of Trump’s sentencing, which was originally scheduled for November 26. The delay was requested jointly by attorneys representing both Trump and Bragg.
