The late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been laid to rest in Abuja amidst heartfelt tributes and tears, concluding a distinguished military career spanning several decades.
The burial took place at the National Cemetery in the capital, following two days of funeral rites that commenced earlier in Lagos.
His remains were interred at precisely 4:41 pm, after a solemn ceremony that lasted over two hours.
The casket, adorned with Nigeria’s green and white flag, arrived at the cemetery around 3 pm in a white hearse following a funeral service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
Prior to the burial, a service of songs was held at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja.
On Thursday, a Nigerian Air Force aircraft carrying Lagbaja’s body landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at approximately 12:15 pm.
