After much anticipation, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has made a return to the White House.
Trump met with President Joe Biden on Wednesday, marking his first visit to the White House in four years.
He walked in confidently to meet Biden, invited by the current president as part of the traditional White House visit that symbolizes the peaceful transfer of power, with Inauguration Day set for January 20.
However, the meeting was charged with political tension. Biden, a Democrat who initially sought reelection, ended his campaign in July after a challenging debate performance and subsequently endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, to succeed him.
Despite Biden’s support, Kamala Harris was unable to secure victory against Trump, who won by a significant margin.
When Biden defeated Trump in 2020, Trump did not extend an invitation for a pre-inauguration meeting and instead departed Washington two hours before Biden’s swearing-in at the U.S. Capitol.
