2027: Kano NNPP crisis deepens as Rep members dump Kwankwasiyya movement

The situation within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State intensified on Sunday as two members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement announced their departure. This comes as the movement aims to support its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in his bid for the 2027 presidential election.

The two representatives, Aliyu Sani Madaki Gini (Kano Municipal) and Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure), were notable supporters of the former governor. According to DAILY POST, Madaki Gini, the Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, made his exit public while speaking to his constituents in Kano.

“Starting today, I, Aliyu Sani Madaki, am no longer affiliated with the Kwankwasiyya Movement,” he stated. “They claim we lack support, but we’re unafraid to stand alone. I want it to be clear that I’m ready to confront anyone in the Kwankwasiyya Movement if necessary.”

He also criticized the movement for deeming him unimportant and asserted, “They should realize that there’s no one in Kwankwasiyya I cannot challenge directly.” Additionally, he suggested that certain political factions are attempting to undermine the current governor, Abba Yusuf.

“My message to the governor is straightforward: they are trying to weaken you,” he advised. “I urge him to remain vigilant; otherwise, he might be caught off guard by those close to him. I have knowledge of plots against him,” he added.
