Fire guts Lagos Blue Line rail track

A portion of the Lagos State Blue Line rail track was damaged by fire over the weekend.

The fire broke out on Saturday near NEPA Station by Eko Bridge, heading towards Apogbon.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, reported that there were no casualties.

In a post on X, Akosile stated: “A fire incident occurred on a small section of the Lagos Blue Line track opposite NEPA Station by Eko Bridge around 4:12 pm. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there was no train service running at that time.

“Safety and emergency personnel, along with first responders, have completely extinguished the fire.

“Residents in that area can continue their activities peacefully as the situation is under control.

“Please await further updates regarding train operations from @Lamataonline.”
