2027: I’ll form alliance with North, Tinubu betrayed me – Asari Dokubo [VIDEO]

Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has pledged to establish an alliance with the North in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

Dokubo made this statement while expressing his feelings of betrayal by President Bola Tinubu, after supporting his rise to the presidency in 2023.

He reflected on how he invested his own money campaigning for Tinubu during the 2023 election, only to feel let down afterward.

In a widely circulated video, he reminded his followers that he had urged Nigerians to hold him accountable if Tinubu did not fulfill his promises.

He said, “I apologize to our elders for any past mistakes in forming alliances with the North. As younger generations, we will now pursue that same alliance.

“Starting today, I will work to create a partnership with the North. President Tinubu betrayed me after I depleted my finances campaigning for him. The Tinubu I see now is not the same person I once knew. We must convey the message that only Northerners can collaborate with the Ijaw people.

“We cannot work with the Yoruba; they have betrayed us. We risked our lives to vote and put in the effort, and this is what we receive in return?”

This comes amid reports of opposition parties in the country considering a coalition.

In January, political scientist Pat Utomi revealed that he had discussions with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, and NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso about forming a new political party.

Recently, Utomi confirmed that Atiku, Kwankwaso, and Obi have agreed to collaborate in establishing a political party aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu from power in 2027.
