Insecurity: Don’t instill fear in Nigerians – Defence Minister, Badaru warns mischief-makers

Defense Minister Mohammed Badaru has issued a strong warning to those attempting to instill fear in Nigerians, stating that the armed forces will not tolerate such behavior.

He made this declaration during his keynote speech at the Third National Conference of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria (FFDGN) in Abuja on Tuesday. The theme of this year’s two-day conference is “Strategic Solutions for Good Governance, Food Security, and Sustainable Growth in Nigeria.”

Represented by his Special Adviser, Technical, Ahmed Jibrin, Badaru emphasized that the armed forces are determined to bring all adversaries of Nigeria to justice. He reassured citizens of their commitment to security, which is vital for enhancing food security in the nation.

“The Nigerian government recognizes that food security is a fundamental human right. A nation cannot thrive if its citizens are hungry or insecure. Despite Nigeria’s rich agricultural resources, we still face challenges in feeding our population.”

With the commitment he observed during his recent nationwide tour, he expressed optimism about achieving food security. The minister also affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the welfare and security of Nigerians.

Badaru noted that Tinubu has shown this commitment through various relief efforts aimed at alleviating economic hardship across sectors like agriculture, trade, education, health, transportation, and security.

He encouraged citizens to boost the morale of security agencies and called on leaders to engage in dialogue to create actionable solutions that foster peace, stability, and economic growth. He stressed the importance of inclusivity in decision-making to ensure that the needs of the citizens are met, emphasizing that addressing food insecurity requires a focused approach.
