PDP: New acting national chairman hits the ground running – Lawmakers’ coalition spokesman

Yayari Mohammed, the new acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has received praise for his proactive approach to leadership within the party.

Ikenga Ugochinyere, spokesperson for the opposition lawmakers’ coalition, issued a statement in Abuja commending Mohammed’s decision to immediately initiate reforms. He remarked, “The decision of the new acting chairman demonstrates his understanding of the urgency to reposition the party for greater electoral success ahead of the 2027 elections.”

Ugochinyere emphasized that this approach reflects the aspirations of party members, who seek to restore internal democracy and foster peace and cohesion within the PDP, once regarded as Africa’s largest political party.

The representative for Ideato North and South in the House of Representatives noted that the Acting Chairman’s swift actions have instilled a renewed sense of hope among PDP members.

Ugochinyere pledged that his group in the House would support the new acting leadership in its mission to implement rapid reforms within the party, in response to Mohammed’s acceptance speech.
