BREAKING: Edo guber: Court voids PDP primary election

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo as its governorship candidate as invalid.

The primary election, held on February 22, 2024, was voided because 378 delegates who were supposed to vote were unlawfully excluded by the PDP.

Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo invalidated the primary election while delivering a judgment in a suit filed by the aggrieved delegates.

The suit, marked THC/ABJ/CS/165/2024, was brought by Hon Kelvin Mohammed on behalf of the excluded delegates.

Justice Ekwo ruled that both the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP Guidelines were significantly violated during the primary election at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
