The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the abduction of Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of renowned Hausa singer Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara.
The kidnapping took place in the early hours of Friday, June 28, 2024.
In a statement released on Friday, Police Command spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu outlined the events leading to the arrests. “Today, Friday, June 28, 2024, at approximately 1:30 AM, information was received at the Danja Divisional Police Headquarters regarding suspected kidnappers who had quietly invaded the residence of Hauwa’u Adamu, a 75-year-old woman from Kahutu village, Danja LGA, Katsina State, and abducted her,” the statement read.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Danja Police Division led a team to the scene to capture the suspects and ensure the safe release of the victim. During the investigation, two suspects were taken into custody for questioning.
“The two suspects are currently being interrogated by the authorities. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues,” Aliyu added.
Rarara, a prominent political praise singer for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), rose to fame for his efforts in mobilizing support for former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and thereafter, as well as for the incumbent President Bola Tinubu, and other notable figures in the North.
